Project Status

• Dictionary - All words from Harry Potter und der Stein der Weisen and Harry Potter und die Kammer des Schreckens should be in the dictionary. Many of the words (most from the first few chapters of the first book) have definitions. I am working on improving the definitions and adding definitions for the rest of the words.

• 12 Dec 2007 - Enhanced the dictionary. It now shows details on verbs, colors nouns by gender. All words from a thru f should now have definitions. All words from the first few chapters of Harry Potter und der Stein der Weisen should have definitons.

My goal is to provide a great tool for learning German. I want this to always be a free service, and I intend to pay for my costs using the Google ads (I get a small amount of money when people click on the ads). I have the beginnings of a few lessons, but my major effort so far has been on the dictionary.

As I was using Harry Potter to teach myself German I spent a lot of time looking words up in a dictionary and making my own list of German words and definitions. I frequently found that I could not find the word I was looking for. Sometimes this was because the form of the word was not the one in the dictionary like a verb that was not in the infinitive form.

I felt that it would be great to have a dictionary that had every word in the exact form that it is in the books so I would not have to guess if I had found the right word, or try and find the correct form of the word to get the definition. That is the purpose of this dictionary.
